Every year it goes the same way. The event date was set in August and the award batch gets ordered the last week of November, with the name list still in review.
The shop almost always makes it. What does not arrive intact is something else.
What actually can be done fast
Cutting and engraving is the quick part. A batch of twenty or thirty pieces from an approved design takes days, not weeks, and in Tijuana it goes out the same day it is finished.
Which is why the complaint that awards take too long is almost never about the machine. The time goes before the machine ever turns on.
Where the time actually goes
Between somebody saying we need the awards and there being something to cut, three things happen that have nothing to do with the shop:
- The final name list, with titles and accents correct, approved by whoever has to approve it.
- The logo in vectors, not an image pulled out of a slide deck.
- The format decision: shape, size, whether it has a base, engraved or printed in color.
None of the three gets resolved in an afternoon, because none of them belongs to the shop. And one costs more than the other two combined.
A misspelled name cannot be fixed
Laser engraving removes material. There is no correction, no reprint, no adjustment. A misspelled name means fabricating that piece again, and if the list arrived late, that second run no longer fits before the event.
So the checkpoint is not the delivery date. It is the date the list closes.
The countdown that actually works
Take the event date and walk backward: three days for delivery and surprises, four to six days of production for a normal batch, two days for you to approve the digital proof, and one week to close the name list and get the logo in vectors.
That is about three weeks, and only one of them belongs to the shop. The other two are on your side, which is exactly the part nobody puts on a calendar.
If your event is in December, the list closes in November. That is not us rushing you: it is that after that date, a single typo has nowhere to go.
What can still be rescued when it is already late
If the date has caught up with you, there are ways out. A stock design with simple engraving produces much faster than a custom shape. Pieces without names, with a separate plate, let you close the list afterward. And a partial batch, with the names already confirmed, keeps the event from having nothing.
What we do not recommend is rushing the list to gain two days. That is where misspelled names come from.
Is there a minimum order?
No. We fabricate from a single piece. One plaque interests us as much as a batch of two hundred.
Can I see it before you produce?
Yes. We send a digital proof with the engraving, the name and the date before anything is cut, and a physical sample when the project warrants it.
Can you ship outside Tijuana?
Yes. We have shipped awards as far as Illinois, and orders for San Diego cross the border in days.
