A new whiteboard looks perfect for about a month. Then a gray shadow shows up where the same note always goes, and nobody remembers choosing a board that would do that.
That shadow has a name: ghosting. It is not a marker problem. It is a surface problem.
Why a standard whiteboard stains
Most office supply whiteboards are melamine with a surface that looks smooth but holds a little ink in every pass of the eraser. On a plant floor or a conference room used every day, that buildup adds up fast.
The result is a board that stops erasing evenly: one gray zone where the same thing always gets written, and the rest still white.
Acrylic does not stain the same way
We fabricate our whiteboards in acrylic, which has a closed, smooth surface with none of the porosity that traps ink. The marker sits on top instead of soaking in, and the eraser lifts it clean every time.
That is why an acrylic board still looks white after months of daily use, while a melamine one already looks worn.
That same closed surface is why we do not recommend painting or sticking vinyl over an acrylic board: any extra layer brings back the porosity acrylic does not have to begin with, and ghosting shows up again on a brand new piece.
When the board carries a fixed layout
If your board is not for free notes but for a repeating layout (a KPI board, a shift calendar, a production grid), the difference shows up faster. On melamine, that layout gets printed or stuck onto the surface, and the eraser wears it down right along with the writing.
We print the grid under the acrylic instead. Markers write and erase on top; the grid never gets touched, so it stays intact even on a board used three times a shift.
If you know the layout will change in a few months, we build it with a swappable insert, so only that piece gets replaced instead of refabricating the whole board for one column.
What to send for a quote
The size of the space, whether the board needs a fixed layout or free writing, and whether you need it magnetic. We come back with material, final size and installed price.
If the board is going inside a plant with vendor requirements, we also send the compliance folder (REPSE registration, IMSS and civil liability insurance) the same day you ask, along with the quote.
Can you clean an acrylic whiteboard with any cleaner?
A standard whiteboard cleaner or diluted isopropyl alcohol works fine. Avoid strong solvents, which can dull the surface.
Can you make it magnetic?
Yes, we add a steel backing under the acrylic so it holds magnets without losing the smooth writing surface.
How fast is delivery?
It depends on size and whether it carries a printed layout, but a standard piece ships in a few days. With your exact measurement we give you a written date.
